A Highly Profitable Home Business

Let?s face it. America?s health consciousness has catapulted during the last five years. Foods low in fat, sugar, and carbohydrates, have topped the must-buy charts. Gyms and fitness clubs have sprung up. More and more Americans at the rate of 10% per year are booking spas and massage parlors. With such a growth, offering a massage ?delivered to your door? is not such a bad idea. In fact, it can be a very profitable idea.

For starters, you need not spend on expensive ?spa? set-up and equipment because the massage will be done at your client?s home. Most of your staff will be direct labor; meaning most of them will be a massage therapist. You will need only one overhead staff, a telephone operator that can double as a therapist scheduler. You may also choose to do this yourself, to ensure proper handling of customer calls.

Spend a little on fluffy towel, good and fragrant oils and training for your therapists and you?re on your way to start the business.

You may charge an average of $30- $40 per hour. Out of that, $3 will go to supplies, while $10 will go to the therapist. The rest is profit for your home business. Here are two types of massages that you can offer that your clients should love.

Acupressure

A massage based on a traditional Chinese method of cure, acupressure is the massage version of acupuncture. Acupressure massages the body in a way to redirect the flow of energies, releasing blocked energy centers or ?chi,? and thereby achieving balance between yin and yang.More...

To perform acupressure, finger pressure is used on points on the body to stimulate them. This type of massage is ideal for tension and stress pain, constipation, menstrual cramps, bloating and any need for stimulation and rejuvenation. Charge $30 - $35 per hour.

Lessons in Marketing Home Businesses

One of the main reason why starting home businesses are becoming more and more popular is not just because of the want to spend time with the family but because of living in a tight budget.

Like any emerging business, it is still unfamiliar to many. Having a home businesses also needs to add a little pizzazz to them. Advertising is a key to promote it to the public.

People dread the idea of having to advertise for the reason that it is way out of budget. Which is really a false impression.

First, advertising need not be costly unless planning and testing is a failure. Some would have the misconception of chucking in loads of money in one shot thinking that advertising will do the trick. And this left them with nothing.

Second, test in portions. There are different media to market the business; newspaper, radio and television ads. One must stretch and take the extra mile to know which one is effective.

Third, arrange for an advertising plan. Once business is on the groove, it is wise to step up a notch with advertising. Spending a little bit more is okay but always keep in mind that the supplementary publicity will just double the sales. Keeping in tune with these circumstances will help make the most from ad money.

Fourth, the best may not really be costly. Understand that in any business, it is always an advantage to get people talking about what it has to offer. There are low cost promotion media available.

Word of mouth is, in one word, priceless. It will not cost even a penny. Asking the customers as to who else needs the services or products the business offers is first and if they are pretty much satisfied, they?ll be more than happy to pass on the word.

Handing out business cards is another. These cost around 20 dollars for a 500-piece package. Some who do networking is also an advantage with the reason that they can refer you to other people, with a referral fee that should not cost much depending on the budget.

The first step in starting up your eBay business is to have a unique item that you can sell, though that maybe very had to do. Among the millions of listings on eBay, there is no product or idea that you can think of, that is not yet listed. This maybe 95% correct, though it?s always worth a try. Your unique idea should be close to your heart, a hobby, an industry or a service that you are very interested in.

After that, then search through the eBay listings for similar items.

Again, 95% of the time, items on your list are already being sold. Don?t worry about that. It is ideal that you focus on the item that is closest to your heart and yet has the least listings on eBay. This gives you a better chance of competing in the market.

No matter how good and detailed your listings are, it is still best to have a picture of the item, which will say everything, nothing more, nothing less. Try to research also on the highest hitting listings and see why their visual representation is very appealing to many surfers.

Price it Right
The power of the dollar is always at work in eBay. Because you allow interested parties to bid on your product, every dollar counts. Some recommend starting your price at $1, which if you were in the shoes of the buyer, sounds very appealing. Just make sure that you are selling an item that will eventually be bidded to the price that you like, say $500, even if it start from a dollar.

Home Business Scams and How to Avoid Them

You?ve heard their highly tempting proposition at least once: with this job or business, you?ll make money fast and in large amounts, without having to work as hard as you?re working now, and in the comfort of your own home. But are such offers to be trusted? How can you tell if a home business offer is fake or for real? Here are a few of the most common business scams you should avoid:

The Classic ?Envelope Stuffing? Scam

Perhaps the most infamous of all home-based business scams, this one requires you to send a small fee to a company who will send you a specific number of envelopes to stuff. You are promised to be paid a fee for every envelope that you stuff, but more often than not, the money never comes, and instead of earning, you?ve actually lost money because of the fee you initially paid the company.

The ?Call 1-900-? Scam

More...Advertisements for this scam will tell you to call a 1-900 number in order to obtain more information on a home-business offer or a work-at-home job. But 1-900 numbers, unlike 1-800 ones, are not toll fee and require a fee, so you end up losing money by just making the call. And the information they promised? Often such information is next to trivial, and totally useless.

The Scam that Turns You into a Scammer

With this one, you?ll usually receive an email promising you lots of earnings by just using your computer at home to send out some emails. All you have to do is send them a small fee to receive some instructions.

What you get for the fee you paid them are instructions on how you can send the same email you received to other addresses. And the payback you get? Non-existent.

Some Tips on How You Can Avoid Home-Business Scams

1. If it seems too good to be true, chances are, it probably is. If a home business idea or work-at-home-job offers you huge amounts of money for doing next to nothing, chances are, what you?ll actually get in return is next to nothing ? or worse, you would?ve lost money as well.

Home Business Tax

Some people believe that it is better to make money as an entrepreneur than working for someone else. Though this is hard, the rewards are many since the individual doesn’t answer to anyone and all the profits goes to the person.

Entrepreneurs also have to do something that normal employed people do. Though the forms are different, these individuals also have to pay taxes which is mandatory by the government.

The form that the entrepreneur fills up is called a Schedule C form. This should be filed with the tax return so the income and expenses incurred can be reported to the IRS. Those who don’t know how to do this should follow these steps to avoid making mistakes.

1. The person should determine the kind of business that exists. Is this a sole proprietorship or are there partners involved? If the individual lets people sell the goods, then it is considered to be a single ownership.

2. As mentioned before, there are many forms used in paying home business tax. If this is not related to fishing or farming, then the schedule C is used.

More...3. The person should get the schedule C form from the nearest Internal Revenue Service Office. People who only spend less than $2,500 that have no inventory, uses cash accounting, did not incur any losses, have no employees and are not deducting depreciation can use the C-EZ form.

4. The person should fill in pertinent details such as the name, social security number and address on the form. Should the individual act as a distributor of certain goods, the employer identification number must be mentioned.
